These designs are not built from cut colored glass pieces held together with lead. That kind of traditional stained glass is beautiful but impractical for a kitchen — the grout-and-lead lines trap oil and grease, the surface is uneven, and the panels are fragile against the kind of thermal shock a stove throws off.

Instead, we print stained-glass-inspired artwork on the back of a single sheet of tempered glass. The color depth and translucency of the printed panel reads very close to real stained glass in a kitchen; the front surface stays smooth, non-porous, and easy to clean.

Stained-glass designs work best when they're the centerpiece of the kitchen — the room needs to be built around the artwork rather than the artwork added on top of a busy room. That usually means simple cabinetry (white, cream, sage, or wood) and a very quiet countertop (solid quartz, honed marble, butcher-block).

The color intensity of the design matters more than the specific motif. A dense Tiffany-style peony with heavy saturation reads dramatic and stops the eye; a lighter Art Deco geometric with negative space feels tailored and refined. Look at how much natural light the kitchen gets before choosing — the more light, the more the darker jewel-toned designs come alive.

Stained-glass-look designs particularly reward being sized right for the wall. A traditional stained-glass window has a specific rectangle it belongs in, and the artwork usually has a natural center point or focal element.
